Sunrise ascent of La Tournette
It’s three o’clock in the morning. The world still sleeps, wrapped in the deep darkness of night. Yet you are already on the move, headlamp strapped on, backpack secured, heart racing with excitement. The trail unfolds before you, lit only by the silver glow of the moon and the subtle twinkle of stars. Each step echoes in the absolute silence of the mountains, while the crisp air fills your lungs with renewed energy.
Gradually, the ascent takes you away from the soft, damp alpine meadows into the rocky domain. As you gain altitude, a timid light begins to appear on the horizon. The sky, initially deep blue, slowly shades into hues of violet and pink. Behind you, Lake Annecy emerges like a dark mirror, reflecting the first colors of dawn.
The final meters are the most intense. Breath short, muscles burning, yet your desire not to miss a single moment drives you onward. Finally, you reach the summit. The Fauteuil de la Tournette stands above the world, awaiting your arrival.
And then, the magic happens. At the exact moment the sun breaks the horizon, a golden wave floods the mountains, revealing the ridges, valleys, and the majestic Mont Blanc, ablaze under the first light of day. All around you, nature awakens in an explosion of light and color. The wind blows gently, carrying the unique sensation of being alone at the top of the world, a privileged witness to a spectacle that only the mountains can offer.
Sitting there, at the edge of the abyss, a smile on your face, you realize this moment is worth every bit of effort. Watching the sunrise from La Tournette is like touching infinity with your fingertips.

Your first 3,000-meter summit adventure
he hike begins gently through a beautiful forest of larches and spruces, before reaching the alpine meadows of the Grenairon Refuge (1974 m).
This is a magical first stage: a cozy little refuge perched on the mountainside, already offering stunning views of the Aiguilles Rouges and the Arve Valley. Perfect for a break.
Next, the trail becomes more rugged, wild, and alpine, crossing snowfields, scree slopes, and rocky passes. You follow the Combe des Fonds, sometimes home to ibex, then climb switchbacks up to the Col de Salenton before tackling the final ridge.
Reaching the Summit: A Suspended Moment At 3,096 meters, Mont Buet offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the Alps: Mont Blanc, Aiguille Verte, Dents du Midi, Lake Émosson… a sea of peaks stretching as far as the eye can see.
