The Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval: a breathtaking natural spectacle
For a peaceful and memorable day out, we take you to the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval, located in the Giffre Valley in Haute-Savoie—an exceptional natural site that will amaze the whole family. This glacial cirque, with its towering cliffs and majestic waterfalls, offers a breathtaking spectacle where nature reveals all its splendour.
Following the well-marked trails inside the Nature Reserve, you enter a vast natural amphitheatre where limestone walls rise more than 700 metres high. Children will be fascinated by the powerful waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, creating fleeting rainbows in the sunlight. Here, we speak of geodiversity!
The Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval is also an ideal place to observe Alpine wildlife and flora. With a bit of luck, you may spot chamois or ibex, and even the golden eagle or the bearded vulture. Higher up, the flower-filled meadows burst with colourful alpine species. This family outing is the perfect opportunity to share special moments together while discovering the natural treasures of Haute-Savoie. A picnic or an afternoon snack in the heart of this stunning site will make the day even more enjoyable!
